At the centre of the venue sits our Private Dining Room, known to regulars simply as the PDR — a self-contained, fully private space built for birthdays, engagements, corporate functions, baby showers and every occasion in between.

If you have been searching for a private dining room in Paddington that can hold a group without the cost of hiring an entire venue, the PDR is built for exactly that. It seats up to 14 guests around one table, or up to 20 in a cocktail-style setup, giving hosts a room that feels intimate rather than empty, and personal rather than generic. Warm timber flooring, deep olive walls, brass fittings and soft lighting set the tone before a single course arrives, and the room comes fitted with a background music system and an LED display screen for presentations, playlists, photo slideshows or milestone videos.

Group bookings at IL POSTO cover a genuinely wide spread of occasions, and the PDR is set up to flex with all of them. We regularly host 21st and milestone birthday parties, corporate lunches and dinners, end-of-year and Christmas parties, engagement celebrations, gender reveal parties, baby showers, hens parties, wedding receptions, networking events and simple family gatherings that call for a bit more privacy than the main dining room offers. Because the space is fully enclosed, conversation, music, speeches and surprises stay contained to your group, without spilling into or being interrupted by the rest of the restaurant.

For corporate hosts, the PDR doubles as a genuinely useful meeting and presentation space. The LED screen and background sound make it suited to client dinners, team lunches, product launches and end-of-financial-year functions where you want a slide deck or a video running alongside a proper Modern Italian meal, rather than a boardroom sandwich platter.

Every private dining booking at IL POSTO is built around shared Italian dining — the idea that good food, like good company, is better passed around the table. Guests share handmade pasta, artisan stone-baked pizza and antipasti straight from the kitchen, rather than working through individually plated courses. Two set banquet menus are available for groups of two or more, and both can be adjusted on request to fit your event.

A dietary Italian banquet is also available at $59 per guest, built around focaccia, marinated olives, Capricciosa pizza, gnocchi tradizionali, a zucchini and goat cheese salad, and a lemon sorbet and white chocolate panna cotta to finish — with every dish across our menus able to be adapted for gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian or vegan guests with notice to our team. Prefer a fully custom menu instead of a set banquet? Our kitchen can build a bespoke menu around your budget and guest list, particularly for larger corporate and wedding bookings. A bambini menu is available at $30 per guest for children 12 and under, and drink packages start from $45 per guest.

IL POSTO sits at Paddington Central on Latrobe Terrace, one of Paddington’s busiest and most walkable dining strips, only a short drive from the Brisbane CBD. Free on-site parking removes one of the biggest headaches of hosting a group event in an inner-city suburb, which is a large part of why so many corporate teams, families and bridal parties in Brisbane choose IL POSTO over venues closer to the city itself. Being based in Paddington also means guests can extend the night with a wander down Latrobe Terrace’s bars and boutiques once the last course has landed.

How to Lock In Your Private Dining Room

A minimum of 12 guests applies to all function menus, and bookings are confirmed on a first-booked basis, so popular dates such as December weekends fill quickly. To secure the PDR, an Event Order is signed and returned with card details as security at least seven days before your event, and final guest numbers, dietary requirements and beverage selections are locked in 72 hours out — that confirmed number is what you’ll be charged for, so there’s no guesswork on the day. Peak-period bookings run across a 4:00–7:00pm or 7:30–10:30pm sitting, with other times available by arrangement with our Functions Coordinator.
